This guide provides instructions for validating the installation of the CrowdStrike sensor on a MacOS machine, following your end user's self-installation.
Validating installation via Application
Go to the Applications folder. If you cannot find the Falcon application, it indicates that CrowdStrike is not installed. Kindly guide your end user to follow these steps:
Locate the Falcon app and double-click it to launch it.The application should launch and display the version number.
Validating installation via Command Line
You can also confirm the application is running through Terminal. Launch Terminal and input this command:
sudo /Applications/Falcon.app/Contents/Resources/falconctl stats agent_info
The output shows a list of details about the sensor, including its agent ID (AID), version, customer ID, and more.
If Terminal displays a command not found, it indicates that CrowdStrike is not installed. Kindly guide your end user to follow these steps:
For cases where the agent/sensor is installed and offline (not installed) on the Device Summary page, we recommend the following steps to resolve the issue:
- Uninstall the sensor/agent.
- Reinstall the sensor/agent.

Verify that the Falcon Sensor for macOS is running
There are instances when the application may be present on the device, but the terminal displays an error indicating that it is not running. To confirm the status of the Falcon Sensor for macOS, execute the following command in the Terminal:
sudo /Applications/Falcon.app/Contents/Resources/falconctl stats agent_info
If you encounter this situation, kindly inquire with your end user if they have completed any additional steps specific to MacOS.
Additional step for MacOs Monterey :-
Step 1- Open terminal. Navigate search, type "Terminal" , click on the item
Step 2- In terminal, paste below instruction and click enter :
sudo /Applications/Falcon.app/Contents/Resources/falconctl license your licence key
Notes
Replace the license key (User Key) when prompted during the installation process. In case you forgot to copy it at the beginning of this workflow, don't worry; you can find it again in your email.
Step 3 - Key in your laptop password when needed and enter
Step 4 - Security and Privacy will prompt on your screen, click "Allow"
Step 5 - Click padlock to made changes and tick
Additional step for MacOs Ventura :-
Step 1- Open terminal. Navigate search, type "Terminal" , click on it.
Step 2- In terminal, paste below instruction and click enter :
sudo /Applications/Falcon.app/Contents/Resources/falconctl license your licence key
Step 3 - Enable Falcon when asked. Click "OK"
Step 4 - Alternatively, you can click "Open System Settings" and give permission to Falcon
Step 5 - Key in your laptop password when asked
